I utilized for the first time Camtasia to present a topic in our Synthesis course. Never having used this software before I viewed Atomic Learning for a tutorial: http://www.atomiclearning.com/ see D2L for user name and password. It was very detailed and time consuming. My colleague suggested I watch the you-tube clips on Camtasia which I found to be more user friendly. I completed my project with a few areas of opportunities, but for the first time using this program I am comfortable with the results. I will attach the link so you can view my presentation. As I said there are areas of improvement and I did not add all the bells and whistles, but using technology is a big step as I am not the most technical person in our group.
I would love a hands on tutorial with perhaps our IT department as this software has many great technical capabilities. It has the potential to provide pictures, sounds, color, zooming, embedding links and you-tube clips. We are currently in the process of having this software installed on a few computers in our nursing division. I think the more you use something the easier and more comfortable you will get. I am still at the novice stage, but looking forward to trying new and exciting software. Camtasia adds to the concept of the boring power point lectures. I may even try to implement some new items in my current women's health course with the use of Camtasia. If your looking to add to your current course try adding a Camtasia presentation.

BRAVO BRAVO!! (Standing Ovation!)
ReplyDeleteThis is great job! Your audio sounds really clear with good sound level. That is sometimes one of the hardest piece to get right. One suggestion would be to find images that don't have the watermark in them.

Susan, what an excellent presentation. Awesome. I enjoyed your informative presentation and now I know that You-Tube clips would give me better tutorials.

Great video presentation of Chapter 4 in Brookfield's The Skillful Teacher. I was truly impressed with the addition of Dr. Brookfield's recent comments to you in a you tube video. Providing feedback to you as a doctoral student says a great deal of his credibility and authenticity to education. I would definitely consider using CIQ's in my current course. I do use forms of CAT's, such as index cards for students to complete at the end of a concept module. I see similarities with the two forms, yet subtle differences as well. I will give the CIQ a try this week following the final activities of the past concept taught in my course. Thank you for a very informative and enlightening presentation!
